can anyone help me with an urgent answer on the below question :
- If we purchase software licences for office programs like (
Microsoft , power point etc ). and we renew the same every year
do we need to capitalize this cost or expense it ( Please note that
i’m not talking about operation or accounting software’s ) I’m talking
about licences like Microsoft ( office software’s).

Hi Tony,
General software costs should be expensed as they do not meet IAS 38
recognition criteria.

Hi there,

I am looking for any guidance, material or websites etc on FIN 48 under the US GAAPs. Can anyone provide the same?

Best regards,

Dear Qaiser,
N 48 gives specific guidance on reserves for uncertain tax reserves in terms of measurement and disclosure. Changes in FIN 48 positions will ultimately affect the overall company effective tax rate. For more details, see:

In net revenue you report sales after all kinds of settlement discounts, bonuses, ect.
In B/S you should have provision account also, ...

I have never seen an English written publication which documents the differences between German and US GAAP in English. As Bertold is in Austria I enclose this PWC link which gives us a publication in German on the topic (sellable via an Austrian website) but it is very recent i.e. 2006. This would confirm my impression that noody has published a decent guide in English highlighting the differences between German and US GAAP. Am I right or wrong?
